Sushi is an interesting thing - for some of us just a roll or two will do, but for others, five or six rolls is just the beginning. I'm in the former category, which is one of the reasons I like this roll so much. It combines many of my favorite sushi flavors together into a single role so I can stick to a roll or two without being restricted to a single ingredient. The base of the roll is a California Roll filled with with creamy crab and rolled lightly in tempura crumbs. The crumbs are an interesting addition to most of the rolls at Kobe and I've found that I really like them as an additional texture. The Cali roll is topped with with slices of tuna, salmon, and avocado, similar to a typical rainbow roll but then then whole thing is finished with roe and what I think is my favorite spicy mayo in town, making this roll my go-to roll before a rainbow roll. The service at Kobe can sometimes be slow, but it's a great place for sushi eaters to take non-sushi eaters because you can order anything from their regular Japanese steakhouse menu in the sushi bar. While you typically have to have reservations for the fancy steak side of the restaurant, you can wander into the sushi bar at will - making this a great stop for sushi on a weekend night.
