This restaurant was recommended to me by the folks on the Chowhound Austin board, and it is a lovely little find. Turns out the chef spent time at both Mirabelle and Castle Hill, and his food shows it. The dishes are as traditional as you get, but with unexpected touches. This pozole was easily the best I've ever eaten, and this includes the many bowls I had as a kid at my friends houses in El Paso. It was a rojo pozole made with red chili and had a bit of warmth that shows up right in the back of your throat. The pork was tender, the hominy plentiful, and the garnishes just right (oregano, jalapeños, onions, and cilantro). The tortillas were fresh and hand made, and just the right thickness. The crowning touch for me was the addition of epazote into the mix - it gave a whole new flavor profile to the dish that was just fantastic. I think it is what truly made the dish.
