I have heard people refer to this dish as "tofu crack". It is seriously addictive. Tofu is marinated, then breaded and deep fried. The breading is the really the miracle here. It's far from your standard neutral vehicle-for-grease. It's got a great taste of its own. Together, the breading and tofu form a chewy, crispy, salty, flavor bomb that can not be resisted. (I believe this recipe evolved from Wheatsville's old Southern Fried Tofu recipe, also a great, great dish.) If you can get it hot out of the fryer, you've hit the jackpot. Otherwise, cold or reheated are both good. Try dipping it in the deli's vegan chipotle mayonnaise or maybe some ranch dressing.
