Falafel Drive In is a San Jose institution that has been open since the mid-1960s. Not only are the falafel balls, tahini and hot sauce used in the sandwiches incredibly good, the restaurant also serves excellent French fries and a banana milk shake I'd drive an hour to buy (thank goodness I live just a couple miles away). This is a casual, fast-food joint with limited seating indoors and outside. The dreary urban location is far from glamorous, but close to Highway 880/17, Santana Row/Valley Fair shopping, and the Rosicrucian museum.
