I'm not a huge fan of eggplant, so the fact that they mix it with ground pork in a sweet sauce makes it a lot better. This one is always a hit, even with people who hate eggplant (it's the smaller, sweeter asian variety of eggplant, which makes it a bit easier to eat as well.) Unlike any eggplant I've ever eaten before, and that's a good thing!
Delicious hunks of eggplant and pork kibbles piled over sweet goo and oil. Eggplant is one of those magical foods that seems to defy the laws of physics by never cooling off, making it near-inevitable that you will burn your tongue or the roof of your mouth when you eat this, but it's worth the danger.
Asia Market has the feel of an illegal restaurant - maybe that's because it's running in the back corner of the new cavernous Asian grocery store on Spicewood Springs and Mopac. But the menu's entirely in Chinese, and the place feels largely undiscovered.
this stuff is SUPPOSED to be spicy i think, but it's really just sizzling sweet madness. they accidentally gave me this ground pork-loaded version once instead of the vegetarian version "Eggplant with Garlic Sauce". gotta say, i didn't mind so much cuz it still tasted great, if not BETTER... prolly from the pork i'm sure...
That's not even eggplant - it's so good, it must be something else entirely!
