I love taking out of towners here because there expectations are always vastly exceeded. Somehow "fried dough" just does not capture what makes their beignets so perfectly delicious. The pastries are hot and crunchy, but soft and sweet. The coffee will put some hair on your chest!
The lines are long but move very fast. Bring cash and a big appetite. -

(Critics) There is nothing like a warm beignet at the Decatur St. location. It doesn't matter if it's 4 AM, 10 AM, or 3 PM (I fit all of those times in in one weekend). The beignets are consistently delicious, warm, sweet, and crunchy when you bite into them. You might get powdered sugar everywhere, but who cares--it's part of the experience.
