I tasted their gelatos and a sobettos at The Woodlands Wine and Food Week a week ago. They presented the weirdest flavor, Sirah wine, pear and blue cheese on a slice of french baguette. Now is this an ice cream sandwich or what? Actually it was a tripple hitter flavor burst. First I tasted the wine which was Brennan Winery's Syrah, then I tasted the pear and finally the cheese along with the sweetness of the carmelized bread crust. I think it was one of the most interesting things I have ever put in my mouth. They also had a muscat cantaloupe sorbetto which was quite refreshing and a rich and creamy but more mundane cabernet chocolate. The gelato artisan and her assistant told us that they rotate 50 or so flavours in their 16 pan case. I think it might be worth the trip as I plan to call ahead to request their punjabi rose petal. I haven't had rose gelato since I lived in LA. Who would have guessed that in the culinary wasteland of central texas there'd be a creative gelateria - there's moreto the iced dessert world than vanilla, chocolate, strawberry and hazelnut.
