The menu at Olivia's changes daily, so there is no guarantee that this "summer coq au vin" will be on it. If it is, though, I highly recommend it. After sampling 4 different entrees at this new south Austin eatery, my dinner mates and I agreed that the coq au vin stood head and shoulders above the rest.
The chicken was tender and moist, and tasted as if it had been simmered in white wine. It was served with sweet apricots, olives, and kennebec potatoes (an especially fine potato for baking). The dish wins an extra point for supporting local farmers, ranchers, foragers and artisans - an overall theme at Olivia's.
