The only thing that competes with Austin's Sweetish Hill cinnamon bun is the cinnamon bun at Austin's Upper Crust Bakery (but I'll save that debate for later). The cinnamon bun at Sweetish Hill is comparable to a flaky, buttery croissant repeatedly coiled around itself. The anticipation of getting to those soft, inner layers of goodness makes it difficult to slowly savor this breakfast treat. The cinnamon sugar on top adds just the right amount of contrast to the rich dough - and best of all - it's not to sweet! Be sure to get to the bakery early, especially on weekends. Speaking from experience, it can be extremely disappointing when they sell out.
