Maybe I'm partial; it is my restaurant, after all. But El Chile's "Downtown Charlie's Special" is one of my all-time favorite dishes. This combination of grilled shrimp and charbroiled beef or chicken fajitas is served on a sizzling skillet with frijoles a la charra, pico de gallo, and guacamole. Fresh tortillas on request. Ricissimo!
This meal was fantastic! It had just the right amount of spice and all came together perfectly. I highly recommend this dish for a great change of pace.
This is a pretty darn good dish. When it comes out, it looks a little unappetizing (to me anyway) because it looks like the shrimp and chicken are covered in some sort of Mexican mush. However, once you break into the mush, you realize the mush is delicious. And under the mush is fabulous white meat chicken and large, firm, healthy shrimp all grilled to perfection. I ate every last bite... every last mushy morsel. Even the beans are pretty good (I'm not a big bean fan). The mush is made with tomatoes, onions, jalapenos and I think there's some lime juice in there. It is very full of flavor and has a medium-high-ish amount of spice, plus a little tangy-ness. I would order this by itself as a soup or eat it on crackers. Seriously, my mouth is salivating right now just thinking about it. Oh yea, this comes with tortillas so you eat it like fajitas. And it has sides like guac, lettuce and pico. (See my second photo to get a shot of what the shrimp and chicken look like when you uncover them.)
