This has recently been added to their regular menu. The cauliflower is perfectly cooked, and the breading is light and crisp. The sauce tasted very familiar to me - then I realized it was very similar to the egg-roll dipping sauce served at Veggie Heaven! I think it might be a packaged sauce that they add some extra seasoning to. Overall, this dish is a nice part of a full Indian meal if you are sharing dishes with others, but I wouldn't order it as a main course. It's more of a snack food.
So, Austin has a plethora of mediocre Indian restaurants, but Madras Pavillion offers this fried cauliflower dish that's worth trying. No, actually, it's NOT an authentic Indian dish. It's actually an Indian-Chinese hybrid (think General Tso's Cauliflower) and happens to be the star attraction on the Friday lunch buffet. Its "fried goodness" aspect provides a much needed crunch factor in a vegetarian diet and has me coming back for more when I need that fix...
