Safarigoers:

Watch (and just try to resist the craving for a shake) as we head out to discover the Best Chocolate Milkshake in Austin, Texas. We polled friends, family, ourselves and the online foodie community to solicit suggestions for the best milkshake in town. We narrowed it to 5 top places. Of course there are so many more that deserve to be tested, we will certainly be launching sequels soon. For now, we enjoyed sipping creamy shakes all over town and discovered a few key concepts that will help improve a milkshake experience: Find out if the shake is made with soft serve or hand-dipped ice cream—it can make a big difference in your outcome. Also, if you are at a good place, they will respond to your specific requests. Don’t worry about being high maintenance—it’s worth it. Chunky, grainy, thick, chocolaty, smooth are all acceptable requests and can yield favorable results. Finally, we all agreed that Hershey’s syrup (in a can) with vanilla ice cream makes for the best old-school chocolate shake experience.
