I was so excited to try Momofuku's ramen, but I found it too salty. For New York prices it was affordable, and I had enough for lunch the next day. It didn't compare to my favorite ramen—spicy miso at Wagamama's in London. I would certainly go back though. It's gotten so many good reviews, I'm convinced I went on an off night.

This restaurant is very ambitious, and popular among New York vegetarians. We had a fabulous bottle of wine (all wines are organic and/or biodynamic), but I didn't love the food. This dish, in particular, was disappointing. It was tiny (I think it cost about $18), and the shaved truffles, the reason why I ordered it, were dry and tasteless.

All New Yorkers must try Momofuku's pork buns. The ramen at the noodle bar is also good (but a bit salty, I must say, I was surprised), but the buns cannot be beat. Along with rich pork belly, the middle is slathered with plum sauce, scallions, and sliced cucumber—a simple but tasty concoction.

This is one of my favorite dishes at one of my favorite bistros in New York. It has delicate spices that are just wonderful! Also try a mojito or (and!) a capariña.

A tasty old-school drink, with coke that has literally been "smoked,"—I'm not sure how. I especially love the complimentary corn kernel bar snacks. The ice is also hand-cracked, a big New York craze.
