Cookie at Tiff's Treats

1806 Nueces St, Austin, TX

Okay, having read all the reviews how could these cookies possibly live up to so much hype? Yesterday we needed a little emotional eating. (Yes, terrible I know - but the circumstances seemed to warrant an exception.) So I thought I would give old Tiff a try. Now all I can say is there is no review that could do these cookies justice. We ordered a dozen oatmeal raisin and a dozen oatmeal chocolate chip. I think I dreamed about them last night. These must be the cookies God serves in heaven. Thanks be to God for Tiff and her oatmeal cookies!

Cochinita Pibil at El Chilito

2219 Manor Rd, Austin, TX, 78722

I ordered 3 tacos from El Chilito and this is the one that will bring me back again. Tangy and flavorful. There are purple onions on top, which concerned me because I do not like onions. However, these were sort of pickled and really added the perfect zing.

I took your word for it and ordered this yesterday. Maybe they did not sauce it. It just did not have much flavor and I found myself disappointed.

Comida Deluxe at Chuy's

10520 N Lamar Blvd, Austin, TX

This is one of those platters where you get a bit of everything. And some items are good. The taco and queso are tasty (though typical fare). The chicken flautas are quite good. But then you get to the enchiladas, which are covered in a bitter red sauce. I have tried this dish twice now, just in case the first time was a bad coincidence. Maybe the sauce just is not to my taste. It is not really spicey, just bitter.

Curry Chicken at Boomerang's Gourmet Veggie and Meat Pies

3110 Guadalupe St, Austin, TX, 78705
512-380-0032

I had high hopes for Boomerangs and have eaten there twice - once with friends and once alone. Both times I left feeling disappointed. The pies - including the Curry Chicken - are good but not great. And, honestly, they are just too small for the price. Both times I added a side salad and both times I left feeling hungry, which is unacceptable considering I spent almost $10. The salad was very fresh. I think I would have to order a salad and two pies to have a filling meal. But that seems a little embarassing and (a lot too expensive).
