I think they toasted this thing! Gotta love that. Added some cheddar cheese, California avacados & rumrunner sauce to make quite a fingerlicking treat. The view wasn't bad either.

Silky, silky. Beautiful to look at, even better to slurp. I would have preferred it cold, like vichyssoise, but who's complaining?

It's raining today in New York City, so soup was in order. Like the cozy decor of the restaurant, the soup du jour struck all the right notes. Not too sweet with a velvety texture. Que c'est délicieux !

It's a simple dish but something of a comfort food. And bonus - I didn't need to worry about crackling bonito flakes or fish sauce - Cha-ya is vegan. Even the sushi. But back to the zaru - it's served cold and topped with nori, scallions and kaiware. The dipping sauce was a little underwhelming, but with the addition of some wasabi and soy, all was good. I must also point out they serve a LOCALLY produced sake, Sho Chiku Bai, that is quite good.

Christmas on a plate! The color of this dish was unbelievable so you can imagine the taste. The arugula had a mild peppery taste that balanced out the sweet tomatoes.
