Here I go again with the pizza, but this one is different - a Middle Eastern take! Bubbly mozzarella with red peppers, parsley and chiles on a crisp (and huge!) pita crust. Lots of snack-y delights on the menu, perfect for sharing in this charming spot on Bedford.

I was sad to see the pizzette was taken off the menu, but this dish more than made up for it. Fiery housemade kimchi with soba noodles, fiddleheads (maybe they swapped out for asparagus) and tempura battered tofu in a light black sesame sauce. Yum! And props for balancing the carbs & protein. Bottle that kimchi - it's a winner!

Usually when I request that a chef throw something together for a vegetarian plate, I receive in return an uninspired bowl of pasta or suggestion to order a few side items and a salad. Postrio is an exception. Samosas with fresh chickpeas and broccolini served with mint chutney. Sweet potato puree with cippolini onion, pepper, pecan and currant relish. Fingerling potatoes + asparagus. Pineapple fried rice with tangy Thai eggplant. Sesame butternut squash with bokchoy and mushrooms. These weren't entree choices - they were the entree. A Benetton of tastes all on one plate. I especially enjoyed the rice and sweet potato. Sure this plate was all over the map, but it was also satisfying. And tasty. I wish more restaurants would recognize how enjoyable it is to eat a dish that points to someone behind the scenes having fun with the possibilities. Seconds, please!

I'm sneaking this one in if solely for the atmosphere. Where else can you get fried rice with a side of indoor rainstorm replete with jungle sound effects? So as a vegetarian I didn't have a whole lot of choices, but I did fine with some fruit and sesame noodles. There was also a lava bowl (a giant cocktail) or two involved which made everything about the hour very happy indeed.

A giant cookie without the tiniest bit of guilt. The treat itself was decadent, full of rich chocolate chips and chewy, well, cookie. Is there another name for the dough-y part? Nabolom is worker owned, they recycle and compost pretty much everything and the staff is lovely. Sweet!
