These soft little potato and spinach dumplings are dressed with imported Gorgonzola and Mascarpone cheese (or with butter and sage -- "o con Burro e Salvia" -- according to the menu). With the Gorgonzola, they are absolutely out of this world! This dish is SO rich that I really should have split it with someone -- but I'm glad that I didn't. The sauce has some Mascarpone in it, but it tastes and feels in the mouth as if it is simply barely melted Gorgonzola cheese. Absolutely DIVINE.

Poached eggs on Acme bread with Dungeness crab, Bernaise sauce & breakfast potatoes: Above average grub served at The Beach Chalet Brewery in San Francisco. But you're not really paying for the food here -- so the fact that the food is tasty and filling is a plus. The ocean views and the beautiful WPA murals in the visitors center downstairs are the real draws. Even better -- skip the ocean views (you can walk across the street and experience the real deal). Go out back to the Park Chalet -- the brewery's sister restaurant -- and dine in the garden.

This place is CRAZY -- offering 54 flavors daily, ranging from Alligator Pear to Zucchini -- but this place is also AMAZING. When in San Francisco, don't miss it!

This is such a great little establishment -- it's been in business for decades and most of the customers look like they've been sitting at the same tables for as many years. Order a bag of hot churros fresh out of the deep-fryer to go, or take a seat, review the hot chocolate varieties on the sign board, and order from a waitress. These sugary, doughnut-style treats smell of cinnamon, are crunchy with sugar, and delicious on their own. Dunk one in the syrupy thick hot chocolate, and you're in dessert (or breakfast) heaven.

Hong Kong Saigon's deep fried shrimp dumplings are awesome on their own -- filled with minced, ginger-flavored shrimp. But dip them in the cherry-colored vinegar sauce topped with scallion shreds -- prepared table side by the server -- and they taste even better!
