Laura is right -- these popovers and strawberry butter (served at all Neiman's cafes) are incredible! I took my godchild for a special girls' lunch at the now-closed NM cafe in Palo Alto and the four-year-old adored them! Maybe I'll have to hit the San Francisco location next weekend ;-)

The Fish Market does simple steamed lobster right -- squeeze on a bit of fresh lemon juice or dunk a chunk in melted butter. The two sides served with the crustacean aren't worth the bother -- although you have several to choose from: au gratin or parsley potatoes, steamed vegetables, fishwife rice, coleslaw, jasmine rice, French fries or basil cherry tomatoes.

The Range Roundup is described on the menu as a "homemade biscuit topped with crumbled bacon, sausage, eggs and smothered in chile and Range Fries con Queso." They forgot to mention the beans at the bottom and the salad on top. This dish is about three times as much food (fat and calories) than any adult could possibly want or need. It's also delicious -- so I wish they'd offer a half portion, because I left half of what you see in the picture on my plate... The Range Cafe is an extremely cute restaurant decorated with antique stoves, Fiestaware plates and local art work. The staff is great, and so is the coffee!

Custardy French Toast seasoned with just a hint of cinnamon and topped with real whipped butter. What more could a girl ask for? (Ok, great bacon and nicely scrambled eggs -- and coffee at nine-cents a cup!)

Blue Bottle Coffee Co. in San Francisco has GREAT coffee. Shown here is a Cappuccino (with cookie). You can't go wrong with whatever you order. The smell alone is worth the price of a cup.
