If you like garbanzo beans, you'll love this dish. The menu simply describes it as a "garbanzo bean and carrot stew." I tasted ginger, garlic, cumin, turmeric, and maybe...cilantro? Not sure, but this is one flavor-packed bowl of rice, chick peas, and diced carrots. Just thinking about it makes me want to nibble on it as a midnight snack. :)

I second silentmeow's high marks re Whip In's Chole ni Dahi Saakh. This dish is terrific! It manages to be both filling yet light - and since it's primarily comprised of black-eye peas, I'm certain it's very healthy. I also loved the yogurt sauce - just enough spice. If you're a vegetarian, I recommend sharing this dish and the chana ne gajar rasa saakh (see review) with your tablemate.

Eastside Cafe's veggie burger is yumalicious. The hearty burger is made of grains, mushrooms, and mozzarella cheese, and is served on a whole wheat bun. Fixings include lettuce, tomato, pickles, red onions, and lemon basil mayonnaise. Oh, and you get your choice of fries or a side salad. (Not to be a bad influence, but go for the fries!) :)

I'm in love. Deeply, madly, irrevocably. The object of my passion? Chef Todd Duplechan's french fries. Before you scoff, take a look at these pommes frites. I dare you not to drool! My little Frenchies are hand cut wedges; thin and crisp. They are tossed and baked with shallots, garlic, rosemary, and fleur de sel. Chef Todd fries them next, locking in the flavors, then drizzles the whole beautiful medley with white truffle oil. Their redolent aroma makes every head turn in the room, including mine - though I try to play coy. It is futile with these chips. They are irresistible, especially when paired with a glass of bubbly. I dare you to try to elude their charms.

This dessert is almost too pretty to eat. ALMOST being the operative word. When you do take a bite, it is surprising how such a dainty, upstanding dish can so utterly melt in your mouth. The crust is both buttery and flaky, and- happily - the lemon merengue does not overpower the rest of the tart. Yes, it's citrus-y and lemon-y, but to just the right degree. I dare you to resist this tart's charms! :)
