This lip-licking libation used to drag me from midtown to the 78704 region regularly. It is perfectly described as one part milkshake, one part guacamole and one part tequila goodness. Though I live a thousand miles away now, I still dream of this luscious guac milkshake and summer days after the pool.

A refried black bean lake must accompany this extravagant expanse of cheese and green cream sauce bordered by a rice fort off to one corner. I haven't made it to Chiapas yet, but this dish is the equivalent of the Mexican countryside between Mexico City and Oaxaca. Drastic and intense, slightly bumpy and entirely worth every bite. Try not to eat too many chips and salsa beforehand or you'll lose steam mid-way through.

This is the best-kept secret in town. For $2.25 or so, you get a monster taco crafted especially for your palette. My favs are chorizo/egg/chz and bacon/egg/chz. A seemingly bland set, somehow transformed into a red corn tortilla race car, speeding down my esophagus. Definitely the best deal for a weekend brunch, saving money for the important things, like the avocado margarita.

House-made corn chips leopard printed with sea-salt crumbles. Texas-based chips, inscribed with a "don't mess with me" attitude. Appropriate for dipping in the lidded guac salad, jam packed and vegetable-ly green. I wish they'd stop using all that styrofoam though, hence the 9 rating.

agreed on the delightful mussels factor. But the Enoteca gets a big fat F on the gluten-free friendly factor. The exact same mussels dish was returned to me not once, not twice, but three times after I'd requested a new one. I wasn't rude, nor belligerent at the result of the unknowing plate garnisher who dropped bread in my mussels' jus. I just expected more respect with an aforementioned and pre-emphasized food allergy situation. Though one of my favorite places ever, such great ambiance and energy, they really disappointed me.
